Chirag Bhakta

Chirag was born and raised in San Francisco, and grew up in the Tenderloin. Before joining the board at Dolores Street, he worked as the Outreach and Campaign Engagement Coordinator for the Mission SRO Collaborative, part of Dolores Street Community Services housing and shelter program. Currently he is working at Mission Housing Development Corporation where he organizes tenants around the most pressing issues in the neighborhood, such as hyper-gentrification. Concern for protecting the character of the Mission, and keeping the neighborhood open to people from low-income, and working class backgrounds as well as the community's own resistance to the change of character and culture compels him to do this important work for Mission Housing.

Outside of working, Chirag likes to work- finding purpose in building a movement for a just existence in every aspect of life — housing, health, food, the environment, etc.
