Rocío Alejandra Ávila was born and raised in San Francisco’s Mission District. She is the daughter of immigrants from the state of Zacatecas, Mexico. She is a lawyer and community activist with more than 20 years of organizing and legal/policy advocacy experience on behalf of low-wage immigrant workers. Currently, she is the National Domestic Worker Alliance’s (NDWA’s) State Policy Director and Staff Attorney. Prior to NDWA, she was a Senior Fellow at the Women’s Employment Rights Clinic (WERC) and Co-Director of La Raza Centro Legal’s (LRCL) Workers’ Rights Program in San Francisco, CA. She is a graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law and the University of California, Santa Cruz.
